Howdy from & the Mosin Modernization Project

Postby » Mon Aug 17, 2015 9:52 am

Most forums I participate in have some sort of "announce yourself" thread. I didn't see one, so thought I'd say "Hi" to everyone via a General Discussion post. If this is the wrong place, please let me know.

The Gear Report team are new to Mosins, but have 3 Mosin projects underway.
It started with a simple idea to guy the cheapest Mosin we could find and upgrade it to benefit accuracy and usability.
Initial outreach to Mosin parts suppliers resulted in more parts than were needed for 1 rifle... so we added a 2nd rifle to the mix.
A few weeks later an additional brand jumped onboard and I am now looking for a 3rd donor mosin.

The projects:
#3) The Bullpup
Need a donor mosin for this one - CBRPS Mosin Bullpup conversion

#2) The hunting rifle
1943 Round receiver, ATI Gun Stocks Mosin Monte Carlo stock, Brass Stacker scope mount & safety ring,
Rock Solid Industries tuned bolt with down-turned handle, Huber concepts trigger, R&J Firearms 7.62 muzzle break, Custom Cerakote by

#3) The precision rifle
1932 Hex, Archangel manufacturing adjustable Mosin Nagant stock,
Timney Trigger, Huber Concepts muzzle brake Rock Solid Industries tuned bolt with down-turned handle & M24 extended scope mount, Custom Cerakote by R&J Coatings

The ATI and Archangel builds will be sent off for bolt and barrel work (shorten, crown, thread) this week. Hope to have them fully assembled and in the hands of the Cerakote shops by the end of August.
Also need to sort out what glass to use with each.

You should do a rebarel mosin. Something with a modern barrel would yeild good results. Mine has and i converted it to shoot 308x54r
