Mark this is a great find. Check out the BC of this bullet. It's over .8!!!! This could get Desh to over a mile! And it's only a 197gr bullet.

Looks like that bullet needs a minimum 8.5 twist to stabilize and 3400 fps to get the .8 BC. That would probably take a 300 win mag or more to get there.

Edit***the closest to that velocity my books show isa 190 grain bullet, a 30-378 Weatherby Magnum with Retumbo powder at 3100 fps and a 26" barrel 1:11 twist barrel. With that charge and a 32" barrel I still don't know if it would hit 3400 fps. I believe on a .30 cal barrel you gain approx. 35 fps per inch. (Going on memory, could be wrong there) so that's a gain of 210 fps for a total of 3310 estimated fps. I can't imagine what kind of gun they'd be getting that speed with a 200 grain bullet. Plus the 8.5 twist is going to drop the speed some from the 11 twist in my book. Ought to hit like a Mac truck at 1000 yards though.

Yeah. It lists a minimum of 1.2 for extended range but I'm with you. I like to stay up around 1.5. I've had much better luck there

Its cause the bullet is so long. If they were hollowed out in the tip like other match bullets they would be more stable.

This one looks more realistic. I bet if I pointed the bullets with the bullet pointing die Dmitry posted on another thread the BC would be even better but with a more realistic twist rate. I don't think I would want a 1:8 Barrel. Maybe a 1:9 I could see being more versatile.

I totally agree. That is a hunting bullet also, which is good incase you decide to go on a trip one day. I'd guess a realistic MV of 2800-3000 with a 32" barrel and a BC of around .625 which is pretty darn good. I'd love to see a field comparison of accuracy and BC of those tip modifiers. I also wonder if they would dampen the expansion of hunting bullets.
