1000yard attempted

Postby Grimstod » Sun Mar 02, 2014 2:38 pm

So today I tried for the 1000 yard mark. Target was actually 1090. Just on the edge of subsonic. Unfortunately my tiny 2' by 2' target did not have any holes in it after I fired 5 shots and one that I dialed the wrong way. I will try again soon. Wind was 10mph and I only compensated for 5. Guess I need to work on that skill. This is actually the first time I have ever had to even take wind into account because my 400y range is in a valley and doesn't ever have wind.

For your first time I think a standard NRA 1000 yd target would be best. That way you'd be able to see your near misses better. I know your close but a 24x24 target doesn't tell you where you need to go. Did your brother spot for you?

No I did it myself. I took my telescope. I can see the bullet holes that far with it. Even in the snow. I was hitting 3 ft left. Once I work up some more reloads I will try again. I want to do it while the field is still frozen. Once things get muddy it will be imposable.
