I have been working with Bluegrass Gun Works and Rock Solid.

These are some of the best quality Mosin parts out there! I am finishing up on the Rock solid mount with an epoxy bed this weekend. Still waiting for delivery of the SF Tactical stock. I am going to post some pictures of the military stock and all accessories for sale as I will never use them anyway.

SF Tactical Maple stock is scheduled for delivery today!! I'll get some pictures up of the finished metal work, Rock solid mount and the stock. Want to shoot the military barrel before I start to sleeve it.

Took some pictures of the sum of parts for the build. will spend some time fitting the receiver to the stock then glass bed. If the military barrel shoots good I'll sleeve it.

Nice crisp light pull on the Timney, very pleased with metal work form BlueGrass Gun Works.

Still waiting for the mono pod and stainless cheek adjustment knobs. Will load up some Varget and 174 grainers to check accuracy. The spent 7.62x54R cases are from my PSL rifle. Kudos to BlueGrass on a sweet looking maple stock!!

Well The sleeve idea got the best of me and I now have all the components to sleeve the Mosin. Tonight I cut to length and squared the sleeve, picked up some Hydro Stone and brass shavings(to help transfer heat). The wife is gone all weekend so it's me and shop time  , the muzzle spacer is next to turn on the laith then test fit and bond it all together.

I look forward to see how the sleeve performs. Keeps us posted.

Finished the sleeve fitting and made a muzzle cap today, decided to go with a press fit at barrel receiver point and applied some Loc-tite bearing set to add some bonding strength.

Barrel, 1-1/4" O.D. sleeve and muzzle cap
Image
Need to paint the barrel with alum-a-hide before setting the sleeve. It was rather crude but I found a thick washer to use for the muzzle cap, just opened up the hole a bit to slide over the barrel. This is how I reduced the diameter of the washer to fit inside the sleeve.

Hope to fill the sleeve tomorrow with hydro stone it's propped up now to let the Loc-Tite cure.

Muzzle end with spacer in place.

Sleeve installed.

It went quite good filling the void in the sleeve and in 30 minutes or so the Hydro stone set really good. Now to open the stock forend to 1-1/4".

Decided I couldn't wait till tomorrow to mill out the stock so here we go.

Final pass to open up the stock to 1-1/4"

This is something I do to reinforce the recoil lug on other rifles. Just behind the lug I will bed a solid bar stock to stiffen up the recoil area.

Be careful you don't break thru to the trigger guard opening when milling out the recess.

Now for a glass bedding and optics!
