6.5 BR Lapua

Postby Grimstod » Thu Oct 05, 2017 11:24 pm

Ladie and Gents I present the 6.5 BR Lapua. And yes I have a reamer for it. Only for the chamber though. PTG still has not sent me the resize reamer. Anyway here is the website with all the juicy info. This baby looks so slick and fast. Dave Kiff believes 3150fps with 140gr bullets is possible. I don't know about that though. You will only be able to use Lapuas 7.62x53r brass to make this. Any mosin though can be rebarreled for it.

Very "aero" appearance , for sure . Can you tell inquiring minds why only Lapua 7.62x53 Brass is the only brass that can be used with this ? Doesn't make sense to me , as all M-N brass has to fit a parameter , and could be "adjusted", necked down , to fit this chamber . Call me confused .... :?
If not me.....Who ?

I will have to write a detailed article on the website about it. I think in one blog post about the name i sorta mention some reasons.

By the way Grindl I have been reading your Mosin build and you would love one build on this cartridge for F-Class. You will be able to give the big boys a real run for their money. I have designed it specifically for 1000y IBS and F-Class.

Just read the full article , and thank you for putting it out there . Good information . I completely understand all the reasoning behind what you did . But also agree with the "Why" , you did it . I had that basic discussion regarding what brass I would be using , when my action was being built , and it was decided that since it was my first entry-level "F" rifle , we could allow for S&B and Winchester brass on this one .

Why anyone would spend the kind of money it takes to build any type of "F"-class rifle , and then ask , "Can I shoot mil-surp in it?" , should not be allowed to own a firearm at all .

Once my last wish-list item is purchased ( Vortex Golden Eagle ) I will then begin stocking up / and transitioning to Lapua brass .For all the reasons you listed , but mainly the high reload count . It's kind of hard to justify spending $400,00 for Lapua brass , when so many other items are needed ,( bullets - powder - primers ) and I have a excellent source for once-fired S&B cases , which are working extremely well for now . Maybe after the "Berger".
If not me.....Who ?
If not now ....When ?
