Hex at Big 5

Postby AssassinBean » Mon Feb 17, 2014 7:50 pm

Stopped by Big 5 since they had a big president's day sale. No Mosins on display so I asked if they were out. I was told they had one left, but the front sight was missing. I decided to check it out anyway. It turned out to be a '34 Tula hex with all matching parts and a really nice finish. Wood was pretty intact too. The front sight had been knocked off but the dovetail was still there. It had a really large import mark etched into the left side of the hex (pretty much took up the whole panel). They wanted $170 for it. Had to go home to think about it.

You had to think about it? Grab it! :D Or were you being sarcastic. :? Thats is a really good buy. Getting a front site will be easy.

Wasn't really sure what the going rate was for them. Never seen one at Big 5 before and they (Big 5) tends to be overpriced in general. I'll head over there tomorrow and get a better look at it. May end up picking it up.

Is this an old Tula Dragoon? My knowledge on variants is still pretty limited.

I picked up a 91/30 at Big 5 last week; dang did that thing have a lot of grease from storage on it! But what a deal,$160.
